Carbon Storage and Headwater Health in Appalachian Headwaters
Environmental Researchers at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky are jointly hosting a Summer research experience focused on watershed health in the Appalachian Headwaters of Kentucky.
The ten week program will include two weeks of field camp centered at Lilley Cornett Woods--the first and largest preserved remnant of old-growth forest in eastern Kentucky. Then, using the Lilley Cornett forest as a comparative control, students will compare nearby sites to determine the effects of mining, forestry, reclamation, and other land uses on watersheds.
The dates for Summer 2009 are June 1st - August 7th.
